Modern and Romantic Wedding Peach Orange Gray Invitations as seen in Washingtonian Bride & Groom

As I've said before, Fig. 2 is all grown up and nothing says sophistication like marrying (no pun intended) modern and romantic. When Washingtonian Bride & Groom reached out and asked me to create something new for their editorial spread based on the color orange. I knew it would be the perfect chance to show the more traditional brides of Washington, DC that romantic can be paired with modern without being too stuffy or floral.

Orange is an intimidating color and maybe not one everyone wants as a primary color on their wedding invitations for you years to come. But using softer tones like peach and gray with small pops of orange (like in the envelopes) is a sweet and romantic take on this modern palette. Soft brush stroke calligraphy in a romantic style as a pattern turned out to be the jumping point. When paired with modern typefaces, the outcome is modern and romantic. I envision gorgeous florals in all shades of orange spilling over beautiful vases, peachy colored bridesmaids dresses, and an orange blossom flavored cake in an outdoor venue.

So remember... modern doesn't have to mean cold and sterile and romantic doesn't have to mean overly floral. Sometimes using a beautiful art form like calligraphy and making it a pattern is just as effective as gorgeous watercolor florals. And never be afraid to inject a happy color in some small way! After all, this is the happiest occasion that should be celebrated in style!
